Brew at the Zoo

‣ OVERVIEW
This poster series was created for a class assignment where we were tasked with designing three event posters using only geometric shapes. I chose to an event called Brew at the Zoo—a nighttime wine and craft beer tasting held at the Houston Zoo. I wanted to combine the playful energy of the zoo with the laid-back, social vibe of a tasting event.
‣ OBJECTIVE
The main goal was to visually capture the spirit of the event—fun, classy, and a little wild—without relying on any illustrative elements. The challenge was to stick to purely geometric shapes and communicate recognizable animal forms, movement, and the overall atmosphere of the event in a clean, cohesive way.
‣ PROCESS
I started by brainstorming key elements that make the event unique: animals, drinks, and the nighttime zoo setting. From there, I broke down animals into their basic shapes and experimented with how far I could abstract them while keeping them identifiable. I played with color palettes that felt bold and festive, aiming for a strong visual impact from a distance while keeping things clean and minimal up close. Each of the three posters highlights a different animal and drink pairing, unified by consistent use of shape, composition, and rhythm.
‣ RESULT
The final series is playful, modern, and eye-catching—designed to draw attention and build curiosity about the event. It shows how much can be communicated through shape and color alone, and how constraints can push creativity in fun directions. This project reflects my ability to work within strict design limitations while still telling a story and creating visual energy.
